Condolences to the Augustian community and Fr John’s family on his recent passing. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to all who knew and loved Fr John( Peter) He was a lovely kind gentleman. May he rest in eternal peace.
John certainly cast his net out into the deep and will harvest his reward.
He was so committed to the word and to drilling down into its wisdom. His liturgy openings took my breath away as he oriented us towards God’s presence among us until our experience resonated with the truth of the gospel, weekly.

John tried again, and with Bernadette’s support, pushed out from the shore and seeded the kingdom. May his powerful and kind energy remain close to the OITC community as it continues to evolve. May he continue doing lectio with one of his mentors, Michel deVerteuil.
Just heard today of Peadar's passing. He and I first met at convent school in Terenure circa 1942 and then in St Mary's Rathmines for ten years. Great memories of him, his sister Grace and parents. Such hospitality ! He played in front row at rugby.Life sent us in very different directions afterwards. He met me off plane from Zambia circa 1971 and hosted my stay with the Augustinians.
I treasure his ordination card ever since - he took the name John. I know he is with God above now, an outstanding life in His service ensures this.
So sad to hear of Peader's death. I was looking forward to taking him down to Wicklow this spring. I only heard last night as I don't take the paper every day. He was a gentle soul and will be missed..
He was a great man of God who put a lot of effort into the retreats he gave and the Masses he celebrated.
We,only heard from a family member now, regarding Peader's passing. He was a stalworth, member of the Augustinian Community, who worked tirelessly to benefit other's.

I'm sorry to hear of Fr. John's death. Over the years I encountered John at Orlagh Retreat House where his spirit of welcome and kindness touched everyone. His insights into the scriptures were both enlightening and inspiring. His liturgical notes for The Intercom Periodical were a life saver for many a priest and were wonderful for our Parish Newsletters. May the God of love, kindness and mercy made evident by John's life and teachings now grant him a place at the heavenly table. My sympathy to all his family and confreres.
