Father Kennedy meant the world to me. I first met Father Joe in 1977 at my relatives Dan and Peggy Fitzsgibbon's house in Limerick. I was in Ireland on my own and he took me on a tour of the Ring of Kerry.

In 1984, Father Joe came to Austin, Texas at the request of my mother, Josephine O'Leary Becker, officiating my marriage.

I last spoke to Father Joe about two years ago when he called me at my home in Plano, Texas. We talked for at least 15 minutes.

I will always remember Father Joe and the Irish twinkle in his eye as he handed me a pint of John Powers whiskey for my return trip home to Texas. God bless you Father Joe. You are truly missed!
