Saddened to hear that Fr Kevin has died, I have fond memories of our time in Lebanon with the 68 Bn. He was a wonderful chaplain, kind caring and supportive to all. My sympathy to the Cooney family and the Marist Community.

So sad to hear of the death of my dear friend Kevin Cooney. We go back a very long way to when he was a student in Milltown and visited our home regularly. It was a very happy place in Milltown (does anyone remember Arsenic & Old Lace?). We both ended up in Dundalk and our friendship continued. I will miss his humour and sense of fun. He was one of a kind. RIP my friend.

So sad to hear of Fr. Kevin's passing. We were great friends at school in St.Mary's College and I have fond memories of times walking, listening to and discussing classical music. He was a frequent visitor to our home and my mother especially was very fond of him. May he rest in peace.

We were friends for years & enjoyed good times like when his pilgrimages as chaplain to the Army brought him to Lourdes while we were there on the annual Armagh Diocesan Pilgrimage in May. We also were fortunate to be guests at some of his wonderful dinners in St Mary’s College.. a masterful chef, & a Bon vivant. He was a man of charm & wit, while also calling a spade a spade when needed. We shall miss him .

the first of many fond memories of my time in the Marist and since.

So sorry to hear of Kevin's death. For over 40 years he was a friend and colleague of Bernie and myself in The Marist. A wonderful cook, raconteur and lover of music and drama, like his confrère Tony. In latter years he was a fine example of how to cope with a serious illness with grace and acceptance. His fine mind and unparalleled knowledge of the Marist history in Dundalk is a huge loss. Glad I was chatting to him only a few weeks ago at Sunday mass. May he rest in peace.
