It was with deep sadness that I heard of the death of my good friend Fr Ollie. Our friendship goes back to our first meeting as students in Kiltegan in September 1964. A true and loyal friend and we looked forward to our meetings each year while he was home on holiday. To his sister Ann and extended Barry family and his Kiltegan family I offer my sincere condolences at this very sad time. May Fr. Ollie’s gentle soul rest in peace.

I was very sad to hear of Fr Ollie’s sudden death. I first met him in Kiltegan in the late 60’s early 7O’s and was indeed privileged to attend his first Mass in Middleton in 1972. I met him over the years when he came home on holidays. My sincere sympathy to his sister Ann and to the extended family and friends. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

The news of Oliver’s passing came with a sense of shock to us all.
We very much enjoyed his visits to our home every summer, especially in years past when his Mam, Cissie, came along with him.
I think we’ve learned more about Oliver in the past few days than we’ve ever known, especially in relation to his great work in his community in Nairobi. Clearly, he was very much loved and held in very high esteem there. No doubt, he’ll get a wonderful send off later this week.
