Fr Pat was always cheerful and in good form. He was also gentle and kind.

His Ministry in Malawi was good hearted, good natured and industrious. This was underpinned by profound faith. The people of Malawi loved him for those qualities.

The Kiltgans are a very special Order

From 1983-85 I was fortunate to be a member of the card school he and Fr Gus Frawley (Kilshanny RIP) hosted on Friday evenings and blessed to attend his Mass the following morning.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends and his Kiltegan brothers.

So sad to hear of Fr. Pats death. I worked in the Chikwawa Parish from 1984 to 1986 as a teacher in Mzimu Woyera seminary He looked after us young fellas so well. He was a friend and a mentor to us all. We had beautiful evenings together playing cards with him and Fr. Gus Frawley ( RIP). We were with him for Christmas day dinner after his Parish duties. They were very lonely days for us as 22 year olds, so far from home but he always lifted our hearts on that day. He always had a special bottle for us after the Christmas dinner (Irish Mist if I recall correctly) ,which he called the after dinner mint. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

My deepest condolonces. Fr. Pat was a friend and a mentor to me as a volunteer teacher in Chikwawa (83 -85). He hosted Eithne and I when we landed in Lilongwe on our honeymoon. He was a special man and someone who showed love and respect to those he ministered. My time in Malawi is remembered often and always fondly. Pat was one of the main reasons for it being so special to me.
