We first met Frances when we were volunteers with the Simon Community. Frances was a valuable asset to the Soup Run Team for her unselfish, non-judgmental approach. In addition, she had a car and loved driving. This led to many jaunts where she happily packed her little Mini with more people than would be acceptable nowadays! As a non-drinker – and very skilled driver – there was much fun and no mishaps.
Frances decided to volunteer her skills as a lab technician to help the people of Bangladesh. While there, she met and married Steve. When Frances and Steve and their baby Mark returned to Ireland, they bought a house near us in Palmerstown. A short time later, Susan was born.
For over 40 years we were privileged to have the friendship of the wonderful Butler family. Frances had a great interest in homeopathy. If one of our family had an ache or pain, Frances would consult her manual and a short while later would arrive with the appropriate pills – and sympathy.
We benefitted greatly by having Frances and Steve as friends. Our families celebrated birthdays and many joyful occasions together and they have always been there for us through the ups and downs of life. We will miss Frances greatly.
