I was very sorry to hear of Gareth’s passing. Although I never had the chance to meet Gareth in person, I spoke with him a number of times during my time in Mergon and always found him to be a pleasure to deal with. My sincere condolences to Gareth’s family and friends, and to my former colleagues in Mergon who I know held him in such high regard. Rest in peace, Gareth.

I have fond memories of Gareth from the early 2000s, when he used to come into Mullingar Travel where I was working at the time. He was a cheeky chappy, always in great form and a pleasure to deal with. I remember well how often he travelled on his sail & rail trips to Manchester to see his first love, Man City play.
He brought a lot of warmth and good humour with him, and he won’t be forgotten.

Carina, I feel so blessed to have crossed paths with you and Gareth. I adored catching up with you on the dayward every few weeks. My thoughts are with Gareth, his devoted and inspiring wife and daughter, and to the wider family and friends who helped shoulder the last few years. What a wondrous man, whose attitude to life and work, love of family and Manchester City and determination (including pitch invasions when not physically possible but were possible) in the face of illness will always stay with me.

May he now rest in peace but may his lived life continue to inspire those he touched by his warmth and generosity but mostly may it serve as a comfort to the loneliness that his wife and daughter will feel.
