Sincere condolences to Idé, Colom and Family on the loss of your brother Gearóid.
He was a lifelong friend of Joe and is sadly missed. Gearóid will forever be remembered in our prayers.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
I knew Gearoid when he came in Turin together with Setanta, a band of traditional Irish and Scottish music. We had a good time and Gearoid was a very nice man, with a huge musical culture and gave many informations about fiddling. I like to imagine Gearoid playing with the best musicians in the best place of Univers, an eternal session.
We are very sad to hear of Gearoid’s passing. I was fortunate to accompany his fine fiddle playing on many occasions and also remember his unique sense of humour. He will remain in our thoughts. Sincere condolences to his family.
So sad to learn of Gearoids'passing. We have lovely memories of his visits to our home in Lanark and his times playing with Setanta. We are currently visiting Cork and will pay our respects at St Finbars.
So sorry to hear of Gearóid passing, I had lost touch with him in recent years but he was a great musical friend to me and the band Sétanta who he played with on recordings we had made.
Requiescat In Pace Gearóid.
Sincere condolences to Gearoid’s family. Gearoid made many trips to Scotland to join us (Setanta) at folk festivals and concerts. He joined us for tours to Wales, Norway, Denmark and Italy. Gearoid’s fiddle playing was always a highlight of our concerts.
He also brought young singers, musicians and dancers to play in the Glasgow Folk Festival. On more than one occasion he stayed with my family to experience a Scottish Hogmanay and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the pleasure of staying with Gearoid in Cork for a few days in the late 1980’s and in 2003 he joined me on stage with Colin McAllister for the Cork Dulcimer Festival.
Gearoid’s many friends in Glasgow will be sad to hear of his passing.
My deepest condolences to the o laoighre family on Gearoids passing. It was a pleasure to have known him. May Gearoids gentle soul rest in peace now.

Comhbhrón ó chroí le Colom, Íde agus na gaolta ar fad ar bhás Ghearóid. Bhí sé mar chara agam le blianta fada agus is minic a thug sé cuairt orm i gceantar Chill na Martra chun a phiosaí ceoil nuachumtha a sheinnt dom. Bhí an ceol ina chroí agus a chroí sa cheol, mar ba dhual athar dó. Suaimhneas síoraí go raibh aige agus ceol na n-aingeal go gcloise sé.
Sincere condolences to Gearoid’s family. Gearoid taught me guitar when I attended Mount Saint Michael Rosscarbery. His enthusiasim and sincere excitement when he discovered and fostered new talent never waned. He would literally leap to his feet if he heard a good singing voice. He also helped me to secure my first and only guitar and he even manged to get me a discount! I took part in many Slogagh singing contests led by him as well as other musical events. My friend Eileen and I even attended a folk music festival in Scotland thanks to Gearoid. RIP.

Started with Gearód in the P and T in 1970. One evening the landlord where we were in digs asked him for a few tunes. He produced a tin whistle and mesmerised us with it for about 20 minutes. He made good use of that gift all his life. May God have mercy on his beautiful soul.
