George (Georgie) Sweeney

As a child in the 70s staying with my Grannie a highlight of the week would be the travelling shop. We would watch towards the hall to see it making its way to Doona crossroads.A treasure trove on wheels. He will stay on in folklore as such a service wont be seen again. Rest easy Georgie, your work is done.

I have fond memories of Georgie and his travelling shop visiting my grandmother's house in Creganne. He was a stalwart in the community providing such a fantastic service, especially for the elderly or housebound. May he rest in peace.
