Cathal,

My sincere condolences on your Dad's passing, wishing you and Mary support through this difficult time.
Growing up in Africa embued me with a curiosity about my wider family and ancestors and my grandfather, grand uncle and Val in particular enthused my interest even more. Thanks to Val I have been able to follow in his footsteps to Clonmore, Deputy's Pass, Greenane in Ballinacor, Portrushian, Clone House, Glenmalure and many other parts of Byrne country! I also inherited the Byrne love and talent for art and one of Val's paintings (Gozlings in a bag) hangs above my bed. I also remember Val as being mischievous, a bit of a party animal and the life and soul of many a great family gathering. My Mum was very fond of Val and I believe the feeling was mutual. They are together now all partying it up in heaven! Condolences to Roland, Kate Cahil and the wider family. May he rest in peace 🙏🙏👍😃
It’s the end of an era Katherine. I have many memories of you, Cathal, Roly and your Mum & Dad and always lots of laughing. I’m proud to have several of Val’s paintings.
Deepest condolences to you all. May he Rest in Peace (with a little tipple in his hand).

Condolences to Val's Family on his passing. No doubt Val will have a laugh with those he meets up with, where ever he has gone. First met Val back in the 1970's when he lived in Bray and had his practice in Rocky Valley. Always enjoyed a few words with him when he had his Gallery on Quinnsboro Road and then Eglinton Road. RIP Val.
