Condolences to Geraldine’s family and friends. Geraldine introduced me to my late husband, Neil, on Ash Wednesday, Feb 28th 1968, in St. Vincent’s school where we came to practise for ‘The Bohemian Girl’. We married the following year and had 48 very happy years together. (Geraldine’s father, Captain McGee, smuggled my grand uncle, Paddy Finn, out of the country when he was on the run having fought in the Easter Rising, 1916.) My son, Fr. Neil, will offer mass, in Boston tomorrow night, for the repose of Geraldine’s soul.

Geraldine, you made the last years of your life an adventure, you did not go gently into that good night and you raged, raged against the dying of the light.

Assembling a team of amatuer researchers to return rare harps with tales of romance and revolution to the Plunkeet family, then to Germany and finding Helge.

You loved lemon slices , people, conversations, meeting the physiotherpist for exercises and talking all things music and drama and religion.

My mother Margaret knew you from when the Mc Gees lived in the Castletown Road and then my dad Michael befriended you and Phyliss becoming your handy man and building stairs up to your attic where all your costumes were stored.

We all loved you and I will miss you so much Geraldine.

One of the most influential ladies in my life during my teenage years outside of my own family. I was lucky to spend alot of time with Geraldine, she was so generous with her time and gave me a great appreciation of music and singing, which I still carry with me and have passed on to my own children. Geraldine`s death will leave a deep gap in so many lives that she had touched. She has made a big change in my father`s life, Helge, as she was kind and gentle to him during his stay at their house. A little German boy in a foreign country.
I am so glad that I was then given the chance to reconnect with her in the past few months due to the help of a dear friend to her - Alan, who was always visiting and talking to her, especially when she felt lonely at her last place of residence. Alan made it possible the Geraldine was talking to me over the good old days with my father and she was singing to me over the telephone. Which brought me so much joy.
