I’m not sure if it will ever sink in that you’re gone. It’s only at times like this I realise how lucky I was to have had you in my life.
There hasn’t and never will be a day where you don’t cross my mind, but I get peace knowing you and Nanny are back together again looking after each other.
I wish more than anything that things would have turned out differently for you Ger.
l miss you so much, and I know Ruben does too because he always looks up at the stairs in Nanny and Grandads house waiting for you to come down.

Ger,

Growing up you were my best friend, we shared so much and had the best time together. I was your big brother, but it was you that looked after me. You helped me so much. Your infectious aura just drew people to you and I just clung to your coattails. You allowed me along for the ride, and what a ride it was.

I'll never forget the goodtimes and well, the bad times don't matter anymore.

I'm sorry I couldn't do more, I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me.

I never for one second stopped loving you and I never will.

It’s so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone but I'm so glad you shone, you were the brightest most dazzling light and the world is a lot darker without you in it.

I'll always miss you. The thought of never being able to scream up the stairs "Bye Ger" is something I'll never get over.

The amount of times I would be on instagram and find a funny post and saved it to show to people, just to realise it was you who posted it. You really did have a great sense of humour. I was never big on sports but you better believe I've had the Bohs match results sent straight to my phone ever since.

I still remember my communion and asking you to be my sponsor. You stood there with me with your hand on my shoulder and big smiles on both our faces. I'll treasure this memory forever.

Look after nanny, despite everything I'm so glad you're back in eachother's arms, looking over us all.

I still can’t believe you’re gone Ger, it hurts to think about. I know you’re with nanny though and you’re at peace but that doesn’t make missing you on earth any easier. I met Ger while he worked in RCSI. The funniest guy from the get go, could cut someone in two with a comment, but in a way that would leave everyone laughing! Despite playing himself down at every opportunity, it was clear that Ger was immensely intelligent.
I was lucky to have known him & he will be missed.

Stay beautiful Ger! There is not a day that your posts in facebook did not make me laugh, your wit was unmatched. Loved working with you way back in 2006/2007 in Ericsson when you did many jobs in Africa and South America…you had a grá for going to countries less travelled as you had read the history and whatnot. It’s clear the books and bag of daily papers went everywhere with you. Bohemians cannot but win a trophy again with this outpouring of love for you. My condolences to the family, may Ger RIP.

Ger was a good friend from Ballymun comprehensive school
I remember his writing skills from school and was amazed he never became a sports journalist
I hadn’t spoke to him for 30 years but he popped into my head regularly as he was a character from school that really stood out I regret not reaching out and reconnecting.
I hope he had a good life, He impacted a lot of people and was widely loved and will be sorely missed

Ger you were one of the best. You never failed to give us all a laugh, and I have so many fond memories or great nights out (often accompanied by your messages in a random plastic bag) in our DCU days.

I met Ger through my sister Jen who went to college with him. He was so funny and held a special place in my heart. I remained friends with him through facebook too & his posts were so funny! RIP Ger x

Ger it has been a pleasure to get to know you over the years, from running into you up and down the country at various matches (always greeted with a monster of a hug) to reading your hilarious posts on The Bohs Forum and Facebook. I was proud to call you my cousin. Any time I visit Dalymount I’ll carry a piece of you in my heart and when my son Henry grows up he will be told often of his Great uncle Ger.

To know Ger was to love the guy. He just lifted the mood of everyone he met. Dalymount won’t ever be the same again - missing you already.

I had the pleasure of knowing Ger for over twenty years from going to games, and my instinctive reaction every time I bumped into him was to smile.
He was sharp, witty, genuine, caring, and completely obsessed with Bohs. Basically impossible not to like. The world was a better place with Ger in it, and I will miss him for sure. Condolences to Henry, Phil, Colin and family, and everyone else who is saddened by our huge loss.

First of all sincere condolences to all of Ger's family and his friends. I didn't know Ger, but the stories about him and his love of Bohs have resonated with me today when I found out about his passing and the excellent article in the Indo struck a chord. Every club has its characters and Ger seems to have been one of those and devoted to de Bowes! When I lived in Dublin, many a Friday night was spent at Dalyer enjoying loi games of different varieties and Bohs was always a great place to go.

My condolences are not just to his family, but to the Bohs family on the loss of Ger as an integral part of the club. And the legacy of ' hold me now' as the club song will forever reflect his dedication and ensure he will never be forgotten.

So very saddened to hear of Ger's passing..my condolences to the Byrne family on this devastating untimely loss. Ger made me laugh literally thousands of times..he was a character and a gentleman, from the comp to heds, he was a diamond.

Deepest condolences to all of Ger's family at this difficult time. I was very saddened to hear of his untimely passing last week. I had the pleasure of working with Ger for a number of years in Ericsson and he was a gas character, who made everyone laugh.
He'd come in with his newspaper tucked under his arm and he lived on a staple diet of pot-noodles and popcorn, every day, without fail!
