My sincere sympathy to the family, may the late Ian rest in peace
Sincere sympathy to Siobhán and the Roome family on the very sad loss of Ian. For many years, he was a close friend of Bobby Casey and regularly drove him from London to Ireland. Together, Ian and Bobby were a great attraction at the Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, and both are remembered with deep affection.
A kind, quiet-spoken, modest, and courteous man, Ian endeared himself to all who met him. He was widely respected and held in great regard within the Irish traditional music community, where he will be greatly missed.
Ní bheidh a leithéad arís ann.

Sorry for your loss Siobhan . Even though i will not be there my thoughts are with you. I have fond memories of my youth with Ian, taking me to watch Derby County and to a County cricket match which he loved, and Ian taking me out in his tiny sports car when i was very young, and many weekends staying at his house in Houndslow where he was directly under the very noisy flightpath.
