Jack (Jackie) Finlay

Sincerest condolences to the Finlay family on the passing of Jack.
I met Jack some years ago while researching killeigh local history and had the privilege of attending the memorial for his gran uncle in 2023.
Jack Finlay was an inspirational man, and will be sorely missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jack’s death. I think of him often, prompted by a photo that sits, appropriately enough, above my own edit suit - taken by Adrian some 30 years ago. What a pair we made, me and Jack. There we are in the Dail studios, me with the long hair (thinking I was cool) working on a video for Johnnie Carroll and his golden trumpet, and Jack, ever gentle, understanding and supportive. Over the course of a few years / jobs I learned to love a nice scenic shot, and even developed an appreciation of the Irish music scene.

But more importantly he introduced me to the wonderful Finlay family and what it is like to truly love one's children / family. Jack’s stoicism upon the passing of his life's love, Teresa, was a lesson in itself. What an exemplary man. It’s a lifetime ago since we worked together, but I find myself watching the wonderful Nationwide tribute with immense joy, and pride, for having gotten to spend some time with a wonderful human.

Nationwide, how appropriate… The man must have filmed every inch of the country.
