Please accept my belated condolences to the Browne family. Jacqui was an extraordinary person, and a brilliant advocate. She always asked the right questions. She is sorely missed.
To Jacqui’s family and worldwide network
Meeting Jacqui’s parents for the first time was the start of a lifelong friendship.
Working alongside her mother in the health and beauty salon laid the foundation for years of connection.
Over time, our paths crossed frequently—Jacqui as a passionate disability advocate, and me as a sign language interpreter.
She championed three generations of my family, always understanding the vital importance of quality interpretation and including the Deaf community in every possible meeting, training, lobbying opportunities.
Jacqui had a rare gift: after just a few sentences about a challenge, she could recommend the right person, report, or strategy, no long explanations needed.
Her heart and mind were always open, giving 100% to anyone who sought her wisdom, whether locally, nationally, or internationally.
Despite being a powerhouse of energy and dedication, she still found time for swimming, sailing, and holidays, showing self care as a necessity.
Jacqui, our golden nugget has left a huge, gaping hole in the disability community. It was a true blessing to have known Jacqui for so many decades.
May she forever rest in love.

My deep condolences to all the family of the wonderful Jaqui Browne. She was an amazing wee powerhouse of a woman, with a unique contribution to the lives and struggles of people with disabilities, indeed to all of Irish society. She was charming and quick-witted and knowledgeable. She could observe the detail and knew the bigger picture too, with all its complexities.
We were all so lucky to have known her.
It is said so often, but in this case it's so true,
Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann!
(Translation: There will never be the likes of her again)

Sincere condolences to Jacqui's family, many friends and disability advocates, particularly those from the Irish Thalidomide Community.
Jacqui's most recent work for the International Federation of Integrated Care, the HSE's Safety and Quality and Patient and Public Partnership spaces, displayed her extensive knowledge, passion and commitment to the essence and value of disabled people co-creating health and social care services and supports.
She has no doubt inspired many young disabled people to continue to advocate for these rights.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Jacqui Browne. What an incredible person, so energetic, generous, funny and smart. She was so patient and kind to me as a family friend and as my thesis supervisor. I spent a fabulous week in Fenit with her, Sharon and Gabrielle finishing my thesis on equality for people with disabilities and she absolutely got me over the line. She was truly dedicated to equality and made a real difference to so many lives. What a legacy. She will be greatly missed and so fondly remembered. Love to all the family x

I am deeply saddened to learn of the untimely death of Jacqui. She was a lovely lady, who had both fortitude and resilience. We were fellow students in UCD in the 1980’s and among our group, who immediately come to mind, who would count ourselves among Jacqui’s friends were Jim power, Kevin Young, Mary Carew, Colm and Nancy. I recall being in her Dublin home at a house party one night back then. Following graduation we all went our separate ways as is the nature of things, but was impressed to occasionally see Jacqui on television powerfully and articulately campaigning on behalf of people with disabilities. I offer my deepest condolences to the many who mourn Jacqui, her family, immediate and extended, and myriad friends. Suaimhneas De da hanam dilis.

I am very saddened to hear of Jacqui's passing. Sincere condolences to all the Browne family, relations, friends and fellow advocates. What a terrible loss to all. The organisations she worked with will feel a huge void. Her wisdom, philosophy and strong messages will echo loud in meeting rooms. Let's hope her vision for an inclusive society will be realised. I first heard of her work on the Commission Report on the Status of People with Disabilities then met Jacqui when she trained PwDI advocates. Rest in peace Jacqui -a truly wonderful lady.

So sad to hear of Jacqui’s passing. Fond memories of Jacqui through the sailing club over the years. Many a day spent out on the water racing against her in her Topper. She was a constant presence, whether it was Wednesday night racing, or the Topper worlds, where she held her own against all those who travelled to Fenit to compete. May she rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to Sharon and wider family. May Jacqui's light be a beacon for all.

Sharon and the extended Browne family please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Jacqui. Gosh... I knew Jacqui such a long time through sailing and working with sailing for people with disabilities and also through Fenit and the sailing club there. What a person of strength, force, and get up and go! Whether sailing on Asgard 11, Jeanie Johnston, Tenacious or even the Clipper nothing fathomed her... she took it all in her stride with extreme confidence. We always had good laughs and such fun whenever we met, be it on the water or in the bar!
Such a beautiful send off she got this morning with that Mass. I couldn't make it down but watched online like many others. Such thought went into the hymns to make it so personal to Jacqui, she would be proud.
Well said too Donal and lets hope they do stand up and serve and ensure all Jacqui's years of work come to a conclusion for her and all those affected by Thalidomide.
May Jacqui rest now in peace and sail peaceful waters. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Sharon and and all the Browne family, please accept my deepest condolences at this terrible time. Jacqui was a force of nature, warm, generous, spirited and always up for fun. I am proud to say she was my friend, and I'll miss her. May God bless you all and comfort you, and may your memories of Jacqui carry you through these dark days.
We were deeply saddened to hear of Jacqui’s passing. While Jacqui had been a dedicated advocate for disability rights for many years, DWI first came to know her through the DPO Coalition around four years ago. We later had the privilege of working more closely with her in her role as Chairperson of the DPO Network.
Jacqui was a tireless and principled advocate for disabled people—tenacious, focused, and unwavering in her commitment to achieving real change. Her leadership, passion, and determination left a lasting impact, and she will be deeply missed.
Our sincere condolences to the Browne family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.

I was profoundly sad to learn of Jacqui's passing and will miss her greatly. I had the pleasure to work with and get to know Jacqui over the last 4 years, initially as a colleague and increasingly as a friend. I will miss our phone calls. Her wit, humour, compassion, insight, talent, vision, energy, drive and powerful sense of fairness and decency were extraordinary. She was a powerful leader and a person of clear integrity. Jacqui leaves a powerful legacy behind, personally and professionally, with a wide network of friends and loved ones - a testament to a life well lived. Rest in peace.

We are deeply sorry and extend our sincere sympathy to the Brown and, extended gamily and friends. Our activism began back in 1996, when a consultation process within the Commission came to Clare. Jacqui facilitated some of the sessions. From that meeting moment we had a lifetime of connection most recently on the 1st of March 2024 when Jaqui was our guest speaker at the launch of We Are Human Too in Ennis County Clare. She was strong minded, committed and resilient. May she rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to Kevin, Donal, Michele and families. RIP Jacqui.
