Deepest sympathy to Caroline and all of Jim's family on his death. I only heard today when I bumped into Lelia (unexpectently) at a repose in Dublin 7. May he rest in peace
Sincere condolences to Caroline, Lelia, Patrick, Matt and all Jim’s family. Suaimhneas síoraí dó.
Dear Caroline
We are so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. He seemed to have the gift of eternal youth and his joy in life was infectious. We are sorry that we are late to this news having been out of Ireland and out of touch these past four weeks.
He was such a kindly and clever man who made friends easily and was respected by everyone. God bless his dear soul.

Caroline, please accept the most since condolences from the Oklahoma Lanes. Even though we were only able to meet Jim once, when we visited Galway back in ‘23, we’ve since had the opportunity to review his amazing career in both education and public service. We can only imagine how much he’ll be missed and we will pray for your continued peace as you go through the grieving process. We will always relish our time with you during our most recent and appreciate your warm hospitality.

He had a great personality and most importantly,he had the common touch which made one at ease in his company. As a former Commerce student at the then UCG,many years ago,I always found his lectures most interesting as he was an excellent communicator in addition to being very eloquent.I also recall when he chaired meetings of the West branch of the Irish Council of the European Movement.May his very kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

Jim always proved himself a supportive colleague who, in retirement, never failed to stop for a chat whenever we met. His interests included national and global affairs, past and present, but also extended to his County Clare roots at Doolan's Cross between Kilshanny and Lisdoonvarna. We also had Laurence Fontaine as a friend in common.
