I had the great privilege to date Jim's daughter Deirdre, and the great privilege to know this family, it was one of my life's best experiences as an example many nights of tea, soda bread, jam and stories of the old country. Jim Hayes very clever, very funny, not afraid to challenge your ideas with hardy discussions and of course lots of laughing. In my eyes a super father, great husband and a diligent worker, he's a great example of a real man. May Jim be with Doreen, Michael and all other family members, my sincerest condolences to Deirdre and Glen,Timmie and Barb.

Jim was a great friend to my father and mother, Chris and Eileen Hayes. There used be fierce excitement in our house growing up when Jim & Doreen would visit. In later years I had the pleasure of enjoying their company on numerous occasions when they travelled to West Cork for the summer. May Jim rest in peace.

Sincerest condolences to all of Jim’s family and friends on his sad passing. In 1995 Jim and Doreen and their family showed me great kindness and looked after me for the summer in Toronto. Jim sorted me out with a job on the construction site of a new metro line. I have great memories of that summer. Jim and Doreen will always be remembered fondly by so many people either side of the Atlantic. May they rest together in peace.

It was with deep regret that I learned of the recent death of Jim Hayes, my former classmate in Reenascreena NS. I really enjoyed meeting Jim on his numerous trips home to Ireland, continuing on the friendship that had started so many years ago, where we used to talk about days gone by and how times had changed since our early days in school. Jim certainly enjoyed keeping up the connection with his West Cork roots. May his gentle soul now rest in peace.
