Deepest condolences to all the Collins family. Jim loved life and he liked science maybe Noleen sometime in the future all his pupils, colleagues and family could get together and buy a defibrillator in Jim's memory.

I found Physics and Science hard. It is a hard subject to pass in the Leaving. but Sen. Robert Kennedy said, We do n t do things because they are easy we do them because they are hard, I started doing Physics quizs during Covid and I am good at them. RIP Jim.

Jim taught Physics . Robert Bannister broke one of the laws of physics by running four miles in less than a minute back in the 1970s. If Robert Bannister successfully broke the laws of physics all laws of physics can be successfully broken. RIP Jim

Physics says to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction to believe is an action, to focus is an action, to dream big is an action and they all have to have reactions. RIP Jim.

Jim wasa physics teacher Physics says energy never dies. Jim lives on.

Jim was a science teacher the last time Halleys comet appeared. Back then we sealed a time capsule. That time capsule will be re opened the next time that Halleys Comet appears. I am the only living person who knows about that capsule. I know where it is and I know what is in it. I intend to be alive when the comet reappears and when that capsule is reopened. RIP Jim.

Michael Collins said 'Look at what you have and build on it's Jim did that by bringing his teaching skills all over the globe from West Cork to Africa. Michael Collins would have been delighted with him.

Jim was a gentle, kind, peaceful caring fit well travelled highly educated generous with his time just humane person any time he went up the Magillicuddy Reek he always brought a very important item with him I am the only person who knows what that item was.

Jim was related to Michael Collins the Irish patriot from Rosscarbery in Co Kerry but Jim would always shout for Cork if Cork and Kerry were playing and Michael Collins also shouted for Cork too. Rest in peace Jim.

Jim never gave up on me even when I was not doing well and in the end I passed the exam. Thanks Jim.

I was useless at maths I kept on getting zero but and it was my fault because I was not doing a tap of work in Jim's class. Jim never have up on me .Jim kept on believing in me . He kept on fighting my corner until I passed the maths in the Leaving. I have great respect for Jim I was at his funeral and it was very sad to hear his wife speak about him from the altar Jim Collins was a great man. He believed in me when I had nothing I would not have got the Leaving without him. RIP Jim.

Jim would have found life very hard when Clare died. but he kept going for the good of his family his coleagues and pupils. It had to be hard but he kept on going, He marched on. Today they are both reunited in Heaven together and forever. God bless you and Clare, Jim.

He told us once we passed maths in the Leaving Cert we would never again have to open a maths book . He turned the Leaving Cert into a goal. he gave us a goal I went for that goal and I achieved that goal in 1990. Rest in Peace Jim

There is an old saying when you give a man a fish you feed him for a day when you teach a man how to fish you feed him forever. Jim taught people how to fish. RIP Jim.

He was a very interdependent person and wold have taught all his students about interdependence.Jim was an artist and a teacher. Artists have enriched the world in better ways than money.

Noeleen, Mark, Michael, Meave and Brian (and mum), I am dreadfully sad that I couldn’t join you all today at Jim’s funeral mass. I hope you are all holding up ok. I have many fond memories of Jim growing up, from spending a great Christmas at Halldeen, to our visits, to him gifting me my first Liverpool jersey which I still remember fondly to this day. I wish I spent more time with him while he was with us, and will connect with mum to try to recreate some of his recipes to remember him (like his carrot, orange and coriander soup that I absolutely botched recently). Thinking of you all during this time. May he rest in peace
