Jim Fleming

On behalf of GSRMA, Roscommon Branch, I wish to extend our members deepest sympathies to Annie on the death of her beloved husband Jim and also to Mairead, Cáitlín, Ciara, and Pat for the loss of their father. Jim was held in high esteem by our branch members.

Jim, or guard Fleming as we knew him growing up, was a community Garda and, as such, was a part of the community he protected. He didn't stand apart as many do now and that is something the community is worse off for.
Jim was a gentleman and someone we can all be proud to have known.

There was never any trouble when Jim was around, and he treated everyone with kindness!

His full back display against the Australians in 1967 in Croke Park was the greatest full back displays I remember. God rest you Jim I’ll never forget your friendship.

I used to meet Jim regularly at the football matches and it was a pleasure to chat with him after the game. As kids growing up in Ardnaree we all looked up to Jim.
