Oh, Alice, Darragh, Doireann and the extended Redmond clan, there are no words when a Dad and Grandad as big as your Jim passes on. That solid footing that a Grandad provides now strangely loosens and a pebbly, unsure and unfamiliar pathway is ahead. But on this new journey of heartache, and loneliness comes a growing gratitude for times past, remembering, a life lived, a smile, a gesture that you will forever keep close to the heart. The stories and pictures that Alice painted for me, of a giant hearted Jim Redmond, will make these days very achy and tough.
