Stephen, sincere condolences on the loss of your sister, Joanne. Thinking of you at this sad time. May she rest in peace.
Dear Cousin Jo,
We are deeply saddened to hear of your passing.
I remember years ago when Glasnevin was my second home coming back at night from the Gravediggers with your older siblings and you would join us for a feast of tea and toast and great craic!
A few years later in London you and Aunt Biddy came to our flat in New Cross when David was a little baby and Niamh a toddler. You had a great sense of humour and Imelda and you had a great laugh baking scones together.
Good times.
Deepest condolences on the loss of Joanne to all of the Aherne family.
Unfortunately we couldn’t be with you today. Thanks for the beautiful service which we were able to share online.
With love,
David, Imelda Moore and Family.

Joanne attended Saol Clubhouse for over twelve years and always got involved. She loved writing articles for our newsletter. One of our favourites was the piece she wrote about the peace process and asking Gerry Adams to ‘take a chance on peace’ something she was very proud of. She had a real sense of justice and fairness and loved Irish history.
She had a great sense of humour and was well known for her practical jokes — her favourite being prank calls where she would pretend to be Margaret Webb, the general manager.
Joanne made sure to find out what was for lunch as soon as she stepped foot in the door, despite the fact, she was usually late for sign up. She loved the finer things in life, expressos and a glass of French chablis at our socials
She was a great character — independent, kind and thoughtful. We were extremely fond of her and she will be greatly missed

May the cherished memories of Jo bring comfort in this time of sorrow, to all the Aherne family. Our deepest sympathies. Rest in peace Jo.
I was lucky to spend many happy times with Jo, in childhood and as a teenager and young adult. I loved Jo’s sense of humour and ability to remember stories from our youth. A favourite tale was one of how she horrified her mother, aunty Brid, by having her lovely curls straightened for her 18th birthday; while I horrified my mother, Baba, by having my lovely straight hair permed when I was 19! She was still chuckling about this when I visited with Ann Tynan last July.
RIP Jo. We are glad you are out of suffering now.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Joanne. Sincere condolences to all the Aherns, family and friends.
My sincere sympathy to you all. I only got to know Joanne recently,as my toy poodle, Katie, and I visited Highfield every Friday. Katie loved Joanne and always ran down the corridor to meet her. Joanne always loved to see her coming. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
