Thanks For all the lovely messages and kind words id like to share one of Dads favourite poems called ...she is far from the Land
She is far from the land
Where her young hero sleeps,
And lovers are round her, sighing
But coldly she turns
From their gaze, and weeps,
For her heart in his grave is lying.
She sings the wild songs
Of her dear native plains,
Ev'ry note which she loved awakening
Ah! little they think
Who delight in her strains,
How the heart of the Minstrel
is breaking.
He had lived for his love,
For his country he died,
They were all that to life
Had entwined him
Nor soon shall the tears
Of his country be dried,
Nor long will his love
Stay behind him.
Oh! make her a grave
Where the sunbeams rest,
When they promise a glorious morrow;
They'll shine o'er her sleep
Like a smile from the West,
From her own loved
Island of sorrow.
Farewell Dad....
My Best Friend....
Love Always

Thank you to everyone who left such lovely messages of condolence.
Dad was the hardest working person you could ever meet, he worked in the construction industry in the UK for many years and was known as a perfectionist and master of his trade. Any holidays away from work were spent building our home in Sligo, with help from his brothers Jimmy, Paddy and Martin. As well as being so hardworking he was also honest and very generous, he would be the first to put his hand in his pocket and the first to help out anyone who needed it, so many times he would say "You should always help someone when you can". He was always cracking jokes and would plague the other lads on the building site with mischief but it was always good natured and he could rarely tell a story without laughing so much before he reached the punchline. But above all he was kind, a kind and loving husband and father who loved his family, his fishing and watching his westerns and who had a gentle heart and an affection for animals, He simply was, as countless people have told to me, just a really lovely man and my mum, my sister and I will miss him terribly, love him dearly and remember him forever. Whatever your memories of dad I hope you remember him fondly and keep him in your hearts always.

Very sad to hear that, John was a kind thoughtful and generous person who cared for his family, his friends, a love for his gardening and a compassion for animals.
I will remember John as a man of deep faith, he had a great strong work ethic, whose work is now his legacy, them being the roads and buildings he helped build in Manchester today.
May he R.I.P xxx

Dear Rita, Julie, Angela and extended family. We have been really saddened over her in Auz to here of the death of John. My memories of him as a young fella growing up, when I look back he was an absolute gentleman. We are all thinking of ye at this time and hope ye can find some strength and comfort knowing how privileged ye all are to be able to call him a husband, dad, uncle, good friend and to have shared your lives with him. I hope ye can have a little smile at this time knowing that. Take care and hope to see ye all in the not to distant future.
