To all the Quirke family, and in particular Bridie, Donal, Alan & Brendan, I am terribly sorry for your loss. Jackie has a profound influence on many lives.
Very hard to put in a page the influence Jackie had on my life. Remember well the countless hours he spent trucking us around the county in the while ford fiesta, to matches, trials and skill competitions.
If it wasn’t for him hurling would have seized to exist in Firies and his impact on hurling in south Kerry also hugely noticeable, especially as juvenile level.
Firies, St pats (Killarney), St Marys - Killorglin & John Mitchell’s Tralee are number of teams Firies juvenile players participated in - a direct by product of Jackie’s work.
He also had a number of players represent at county level, no mean feat considering that most came from a non traditional hurling area.
I will be forever grateful to him and the contributions of his family towards to betterment of my life. Can’t say enough about the man!
