Dear Jackie, Louise, Joan and Una
So sorry for your sad loss. Your father Johnny was a legend in his own life time. It was a great privilege to have known one such as him. A gentleman, a wonderful warm human and decent honourable man. The love of a father for his daughter or a daughter for a such a wonderful father cannot be extinguised by temporary separation. Please forgive, I know it's customary to say may he rest in peace, but if its all true, and I believe it is, instead may he be leaping around the place joyously chasing nervous horses living a new life of purpose and vitality, in the healed kingdom Jesus prepared for all of us before the dawn of time. I have fond memories of all the chats when we mutually decided how to fix all the worlds ills, and how to run the country better. Johnny has gone on ahead of his family, forging the way. So sorry to hear of Johnny's passing, a true gentleman. He shod my pony many many years ago and taught me so much about horse hoof care which I have never forgotten. My condolences to all the generations of the family. Rest in Peace Johnny.

Sincere condolences to all John’s family. I have so many memories of him shoeing ponies at Ena’s in Holywell and the laughs and chats we had! He was one good man and will be fondly remembered by many as will his brother Joe.

In hind sight, Johnny was a bit of a hero of mine growing up - he thought me about work ethic and values - some of which I have even retained.
He used to give me 20 POUNDS (at the time) to clean the forge for him. That was generous, but you had to get through 4 inches of soot before you could find a surface!!
But the best days were undoubtedly up in the bogs cutting turf - no chance of slacking.
It's probably 30 odd years since I've seen Johnny, but I will always remember him fondly.
"Murph, if work was a bed you'd sleep on the floor".
Rest in peace Johnny.
