Sincere condolences to Gay and the whole Keenan family on John's passing. He was truly one in a million and will be missed by all who knew him. His kind and genuine manner always brought the best out of the people he was with. The most important part of Archery training was stopping for a cup of tea and a chat, and he always made sure everyone knew it!

I had the pleasure of sharing laughter, joy, vegetable growing tips, Archery tips, historical finds and many a cup of tea over the last few years with John. He will be sadly missed. Condolences to Gay and all his friends and loved ones.

To Gay, Nicky, Seán and extended family we send our sincere condolences. I always admired John in scouting as he always put the members first and ensured that the programme was fun and adventurous. This was very true in the Venturers section (St Patrick’s Scouts Unit, Dundalk) in which he pioneered many new ideas and activities. He also had this warm infectious smile that encouraged you to get things done. May he now find eternal rest and happiness.

He was a breath of fresh air and an inspirational leader when he joined us in St Patrick’s Unit Scouts in Dundalk in the early 70’s.
John became a mentor and a good friend to many.

Sincere sympathy to the Keenan family on the death of John.I remember John from the early 70s when he founded a Youth Club in Kilkerley based in the old Milltown Hall and he also entered a team from Kilkerley in the Dundalk Summer League. He was a Godsend to the Youth of the parish at that time.Lost contact with him over the years but never forgot his outstanding work for the Youth of the parish at a time when it was badly needed. Rest in peace John.

John and Gay were outstanding on the dance floor at a friends wedding some years ago. The guests were amazed. John was a great archery competitor and represented Cuchulainn Archers around the world.
