Just heard the very sad news of John’s passing RIP. Remembering a dear friend and neighbour in Shamrock Road.

So very sorry to hear the news of the sad passing of John. We have such great memories of the famous two weeks in July that we spent on holidays in the Iona hotel Rosslare, every year without fail. John was great fun, always laughing, and a true gentleman. We are thinking of you at this very sad time and may his gentle soul rest in peace.

We have very fond memories of your father as we were able to stay with him in Cork two years ago. We remember the warm welcome, the pleasant chats and the pleasant stay.
Next week Wednesday we travel back to Ireland and stay in the Wicklow mountains from September 19 to 21. Afterwards we travel to the west coast. Maybe if you are still in Ireland we can meet somewhere. Otherwise later in Belgium

I have known John Macken and family over 40 years and in that time one thing you be sure of was that you would receive a big smile and a warm welcome from him, whether it was at work, his home or on the street. John was a wonderful charming kind gentleman who genuinely had time in his busy day for everyone. I know only too well how losing an incredible father is absolutely heartbreaking. I am praying the wonderful memories you have will be of great comfort to you all, our sincere condolences to you Norma, Niall, Claire,Brendan and Aideen , x Joanne O Hanlon and all The O Hanlons.

It has to be some consolation knowing the high esteem in which John was held by so many people ,he was special. Johns lovely personality was so evident in his four charming children. It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of John .Condolences to Norma and family .i have known John for 50 years and have never known a more fair and well respected gentleman in the community.John did a lot for people that we will never know about .
