Condolences to all the family. Gone far too soon. Johnny was a great character, a true gentleman with a beautiful soul. He always had a smile on his face and was always full of chat with everyone he met. One of the good ones. May he rest peacefully now. He will never be forgotten.

Very sad to hear the news of John's passing, one of life's gentlemen taken far too soon. True to say John lived life to the fullest, He packed a huge amount into his years. Dear Cliodhna, Ciaran and all of the O'Donoghue family, I just want to express our heartfelt sympathy and condolences at this very difficult time.

We are privileged to have known and worked with Johno over the last 5 years. He was a conscientious and hard working member of the team, even when very ill, still keen to contribute and support his team members.

Johno brought life and laughter to the office. He always had time to have a chat, brightening our day with his sharp wit and humour.

Johno you will be deeply missed by us all as a friend and colleague. You were taken too soon after a heroic battle but may you now rest in peace.

My most enduring memory of Johno was commandeering him to play in goal for our Intermediate
team against Waterford RTC in Waterford during rag week when we had to muster up a team
as most of the lads had gone AWOL and to cap it all Johno was on his way home from a party!

I have fond memories of our time in Atlantic City 1989/90 many moons ago and latterly in Dublin, where he enjoyed life to the full. Johno, left a positive mark everywhere he went with his jovial personality and the authenticity in how he lived his life. I will remember him as the mischievous, kind and caring person he was. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of John's death. I was in a Chekhov play a few yrs ago with him and another actor, just the three of us and i got to know him pretty well through our many days/evenings of rehearsals and the performances. He was just a lovely guy, with a wicked sense of humour and a damn fine actor too. My sincere condolences. Shane

I have fond memories of growing up with John in Retreat and many football matches with John the rock in the goal. I didn’t see him much over the years but whenever I did, he never changed and always the smile. Gone way too soon. Condolences to all of John’s family.

It’s been a good while since our paths crossed but I will always have fantastic memories of John as both a friend and a team mate with both Athlone GAA Club and Athlone Town Soccer Club. John was a superb goalkeeper and played a huge part in all our successes over the years. Another member of the great 1986 Athlone GAA Minor football winning team gone far too soon.Sincere condolences to all his family and anyone lucky enough to have made his acquaintance over the years.
