It would seem that John has known me all my life! … he remembered the night I was born … it was the first time the Holly Bough was printed after the war, both he and my father were on duty … and, after I joined the Examiner, John reminded me each year with memories of my father’s joy in 1947, as he wished me happy birthday. John was a very sincere person that I had the honour and privilege to call a friend and colleague.

It is with the greatest of sadness to hear of John's passing. We were with John very recently in Marymount, and had a such a wonderful memorable visit with him. What an amazing knowledgeable and intelligent man and such a great story teller. John was a great friend and co- worker of my late father, Michael John Courtney who spoke of John always with the greatest of fondness and respect . Our sincere condolences to Johns family on your very sad loss. John will be greatly and very sadly missed.
