I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of John Sweeney and wish to express my condolences to his immediate and extended family, particularly Mary, Patrick, Rita, Therese, Ann and Pauline. John was an absolute gentleman who was loved by so many people. He epitomised all that was good about Ballyfermot and fought hard to improve the quality of life of the people in our community since its earliest days. Indeed, John was so proud of Ballyfermot people and their achievements. John believed that people should realise their full potential and wanted them to have the best opportunities in life irrespective of their backgrounds. John inspired and helped so many and I personally benifitted from his excellent advice. John leaves a wonderful legacy that lives on in his family. John should be remembered by all as one of Ballyfermot's finest citizens. May he rest in peace.
