I was very saddened to hear of Larry's death. A kind, gentle and funny man and a good neighbour. My thoughts are with you all at this very hard time.
My sincere condolences to Rosaleen and family on the death of Larry. I have spent 50 years in education and i must say Larry was an inspiration to me and thousands of teaching colleagues. He loved life and loved teaching and was the ultimate educator - students loved Larry for his brilliance, kindness, humility and inclusive disposition. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam Labhrás.

Engineering book co-authored with Liam Hennessey was an inspirational piece of work for a new course. Much appreciated by teachers, recently updated and still in use. I had the privilege of working along side Larry while working with T4 support service many years ago, a pure gentleman.

Sorry to hear of Larrys passing, his Technology Book written with Liam Hennessey was an iconic guide used by the Metalwork Teachers of Ireland, the illustrations were created without the help of the drawing software we now take for granted.

Lawrance's enthusiasm for the Riding Club ethos knew no bounds, and we always enjoyed his company when he was competing at both in Ballinasloe and at Flowerhill. A true gentleman whose sensible approach could solve any problem made him respected by everyone he met. RIP Lawrance.
RIP Larry, a massive influence you were in my life as a student of yours for five years in PCC. Your approach to teaching with such knowledge, intellectualism and humour made it very difficult not to be able to listen to and more importantly learn from you. Sad to hear of Larry's unexpected death. A true and genuine gentleman with a wealth of engineering expertise that he passed on to the many students he put through his hands down the years. Always to the forefront of new and innovative projects, his many successes with his students at the Young Scientist of the Year, is the stuff of legend, particularly the building of the first ever Hovercraft in Donegal, if not in Ireland.
