I am so sorry to learn of the death of Liam. He was a true gentleman, and a loyal and dedicated NUJ life member. Not being a golfer I did not meet him as often as other colleagues but it was always a job.
I first encountered him when I attended what was then the John Player Tops of the Town finals when he was a special guest. Fond memories of great yarns.
Liam is remembered with fondness by generations of journalists. I never worked in the Irish Press but I know how much he was admired there for his professionalism, courtesy and support to younger colleagues.
Condolences to family, friends and former Burgh Quay colleagues.
Dear Aisling, Carol, Orla, Niall, Declan, Mrs. Flynn and all the family, we were so sorry to hear of your darling Dad's passing. He was such a wonderful man and it is so clear how much he was loved by all of you.
May he rest in peace.
Liam was an old friend; he was news editor in the Irish Press when we first met. His professionalism and skill was as outstanding then as it was 30 years later when he still managed a key department in the paper. He was one of the best and a neighbour who could be relied upon for the latest Irish Press gossip. Sincerest condolences to Eithne and the rest of the family.
So sorry to hear of Liam Flynn’s passing. I send my deepest condolence to his family. Hearing his death today brought back many memories of great people that passed through the Irish Press. May Liam rest in peace.

My family were very saddened to hear of Liam’s passing. We’ve enjoyed his company for the week when every year our families meet in Scotland. He would be very competitive on the golf courses and hold court in the 19th with tales and stories and of course, his excellent rendition of “ Danny Boy “.

Deepest sympathy to Carol and all the family on the passing of Liam. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
Another good man gone. Rest in peace, Liam.
Greatly saddened to hear of dear Liam’s passing. He was a great colleague and friend for over 35 years and a doyen of both the news room and art dept of the Irish Press Group. He was-in the early days-a great reporter, solid, dependable and a subtle but sharply nuanced writer and a wonderful story teller over a pint. Later, he was given and conquered a very difficult challenge, when he was (surprisingly) appointed group art editor in charge of the photographic dept., which he eventually moulded into a multi award winning team, very much to his credit.
He was the classic ‘old school’ Irish Press type of highly respected journalist: accurate, brilliant shorthand, courteous, sympathetic and always aware of the news angle of the occasion-big or small.
He shall be sadly missed.
Sincere condolences to Eithne and family.

Brian and Abby Barron.

Dear Eithne, Niall, Carol, Declan, Orla and Aisling, please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Liam. He was a lovely man.
Dear Eithne and Family I was so sorry to hear of Liam's passing. Our paths first crossed in 1974 as the DJGS came into being and over the subsequent 50 years we became great friends. The DJ's took us on many wonderful trips to all the great courses both home and abroad and Liam loved every minute of them. After the round Liam would lead the compulsory sing song and the evening always ended with Liam's great favourite "The Rare Ould Times". Indeed they were great days and no doubt his many colleagues who have passed before him will welcome Liam with open arms to Heaven's First Tee. He was one of a kind and those of us who knew Liam will never forget him. May Liam Rest In Peace.
Eithne, Niall, Carol, Declan, Orla and Aisling, my sincere condolences to you all on the passing of Liam.
I have many happy memories of "Mr Flynn" growing up next door; he was a lovely man.
