As so many of her former pupils and friends can attest, Magsie Goor was a pillar of wisdom, education, support, and inspiration, shaping the lives of everyone she encountered. She was my first music teacher, and the impact she had, both on me personally and on the wider music community through her work with Suzuki, cannot be overstated. With her kind nature, sharp humor, and deeply empathetic spirit, she taught us all lessons that went far beyond music. Together with John, she opened her home and her heart to so many, creating a space where everyone felt welcome. The memories of time spent with Magsie in Enniskerry will always remain among my most cherished. Sending my deepest condolences to her children Sabine, Monique and Louis, and to her extended family.
It was with the deepest of regret that the Members of the Rotary Club, Dublin learned only yesterday, the 11th November, of the sad death of our great friend and supporter Magsie Goor. Magsie and her late husband John, who was a Member and Great Friend of the Club for many years, were very fondly remembered at our Lunch Meeting. Stories of many wonderful events at their beautiful home in County Wicklow were recalled and their extraordinary contribution to the Club will always be very much appreciated. To Sabine, Monique and Louis, to Magsie's sisters Rosemary and Jean and to her 5 grandchildren on behalf of all of the Members of the Club I extend our deepest sympathy on your sad loss at this time. May Magsie now Rest in Peace.
Sabine, Monique and Louis, sending sincere and heartfelt sympathy to you. Magsie was one of a kind, so many fond and often hilarious memories of a lovely woman. Ceol na bhflaithis go gcloisfeadh sí. X

My deepest condolences Monique , Sabine and Louie. Your mum was a great teacher who's love of music was obvious. Having met her on occasion many years after I stopped the violin lessons, her vivacious spirit and genuinely warm character was just the same as I remember her. May she rest in peace.

Our sincerest condolences to the Goor and Ronan families.
We have such fond memories of Magsie from when she lived in Greystones, to music lessons at Annacrivey, the wonderful trip to Turin for the Suzuki Method World Convention, and all the barbecues and Christmas parties down through the years.
Magsie was kind. She was a uniquely special, love filled human, and a ‘child first’ teacher. Our children loved her dearly and so did we.
Thank you Magsie. It was such a pleasure and a privilege to know you. You will be missed and always remembered.

Anacrivey was such a major part of our childhood. Marcus started taking violin lessons aged 4, and then Magsie suggested Samantha play viola and Rebecca cello, so we could have our own resident string trio. She even roped in Angus on bass guitar to be part of a resident rock band with Louis. We just loved going up the hill for group lessons and various music groups and wonderful Christmas Eve carols. Everything was always crazy, and definitely a little bit off the wall and quirky. Flapjacks, four-and-twenty blackbirds, fatter-than-a-caterpillar, fabulous fun. Magsie just had this magic quality that made everything really enjoyable. Music camps were wild & you would always expect the unexpected - like a midnight swim in Brittas Bay or a mad hatters tea party. As a result of all the fun, 40 years on and we are still playing music..professionally and just for fun. Thank you Magsie (and Sabine). Thank you for introducing us to this wonderful world of music and making it so much fun that we've kept at it for decades.
Our heartfelt condolences to Sabine, Monique & Louis and families.

To all the Goor family,
I had the pleasure of watching Magsie in action as a Suzuki teacher at many group lessons and summer camps over the years. Her energy, passion, enthusiasm, positivity and sense of fun exemplified the ideal of a Suzuki teacher to me, and I know she inspired so many young musicians in her time. While my little violinist has grown up and moved on to other activities, she, and all our family, remember Magsie vividly, and fondly. We are all so sorry for your loss. I will remember and love Magsie forever, she was such an important part of our lives. Her sense of fun and genuine warmth was one of her most amazing qualities and always quick to laughter. She instilled a great love of music in my sister Bella and I, spending hours teaching me the violin through the wonderful Suzuki method every Friday night and for eight years. We zoomed over the Wicklow mountains with Mum while listening to our Suzuki tapes in the Jeep preparing for the lessons and Bella in the back practising her violin and flute. Amazing fun times and Suzuki music conferences around the world. Mum & Magsie used to drink quantities of gin and tonics on Friday night after the lessons which sometimes resulted in John having no dinner!! Fun memories and wonderful times. What a lovely wonderful woman, rest in peace Magsie, you spread a lot of joy. My deepest sympathies to Louis, Sabine and Monique as well as Fish, George and Charlotte at this sad time and all her lovely relations and wonderful friends she made over the years. Lots of love, Tamso & Bella, xo.
Larger than life and quick to laugh. There is a whole generation of musicians, reformed and otherwise, owing their start along that path to Magsie.
I hope there are Suzuki group lessons for her to lead now, but that the intonation is better.

Deepest sympathy to Louis, Sabine and Monique on the death of the wonderful Magsie. I have such fond memories of frosty Winter mornings at Killruddery warmed by her infectious laugh and hugs, and summer trips to Dooks, she was a joy to know! May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
What wonderful tributes to your Mum on RIP.ie.
Maggie and I will be thinking of all of you tomorrow when you will celebrate her wonderful life.

My condolences to the Goor family at the passing of Magsie. Sabine taught me violin when i was younger and then later Magsie was my teacher for a few years through my teens so I've many happy memories of going to the house in Enniskerry over several years. Not only was Magsie a great teacher - but she used to have me in stitches laughing during lessons - she was just so much fun! I'm 46 years old now writing this and I think of Magise and I smile - it's that simple. I hope to make it to the house this evening with sister Judith and Dad Michael to pay our respects.
Rest in Peace Magsie

Magsie was an exceptional lady who gave all her pupils a life long love of music in particular the violin. The environment she created for the children whilst teaching was akin to being in a fairy tale. I will never forget her and our lives have been enriched by knowing her.

Dear Sabine, Monique and Louis,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.
It was my pleasure and an honour to know your wonderful mum "Magsie".
I will always rememeber her kindness, warmth and gentle nature. It was a joy to hear to her play piano, join her watching David Attenbourgh and Call the Midwife on TV; alongside her, whilst she curled up on the sofa with her dogs and of course a G&T in hand before dinner.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Dear Sabine, Monique and Louis,
We all (Olivia, Polly and Meg) have such wonderful memories of lessons with Magsie (and Sabine for Julie!) at Annacrivey, and of taking part in all the wider Suzuki events with her. Magsie was the most wonderful teacher – she really ‘got’ children – and learning with her was just so much fun! She really instilled a lifelong love of music in all of us and she forms such a big part of our childhood memories. In spite of all of us trying her patience sorely at times, I am sure, she was never anything but patient, kind, enthusiastic and so much fun! She really was a joy to know, and she passed that joy on to everyone she met.
Our sincerest sympathy and condolences,
Mary, Amri, Julie, Olivia, Polly and Meg Walsh

Sincere condolences to the Goor family on the passing of Magsie. RIP
Our most sincere condolences to Sabine, Monique and Louis and family. Magsie was such a special person in the lives of our family, teaching both myself and my sister Mary Louise the violin, starting when I was 2, and then teaching my daughter Caoimhe not so long ago. Magsie exuded energy and enthusiasm and she was everything that a teacher should be; kind, patient, inspirational and fun! I have extremely fond memories of lessons in Annacrivey with the smell of flapjacks in the air, and travelling to Japan with Magsie for the Suzuki Convention in 1988. Fitting that Magsie's funeral will take place on World Teachers' Day. Thank you for everything Magsie, you were truly unique.
The wonderful unforgettable Magsie.
At last you have reached your reward .🙏🦋🌈🕯
All my sincerest prayers. & happiness.

I just want to pay tribute to an amazing violin teacher and a wonderfully inspiring champion of the Suzuki violin method . Trips to Curtlestown and Enniskerry were filled with joy and laughter, thanks to Magsie's dedication, encouragement and enthusiasm. Magsie was a legend and we , my daughter Iseult and myself, feel truly blessed to have been part of such a wonderful experience. Comhbhrón ó chroí do mhuintir Magsie . My sympathy and that of my daughters to Magsie's family. Over the years we've enjoyed Magsie's great company and inspiring tuition at her many music workshops and concerts in the barn. I've also had great fun playing with her in quartets at various events and in Termonfechin. May she rest in peace.
