My Deepest Sympathy to John, Owen, Helen, Simon and all the family on the sad passing of Marie.
I have happy memories of having been taught french under her excellent guidance and was delighted to meet her briefly earlier this year.
My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

It was a privilege to be part of the wonderful women's guard of honour by the Bridge Club, the Women Graduates Association and her friends at Marie's funeral this morning, a fitting tribute to all Marie's exceptionally hard work and efforts in both organisations, down the years. A marvellous woman, she will be sorely missed.

It is with deep sadness that the IrFUW (Irish Federation of University Women) has received the news of the passing of our long-standing member and friend Marie Flatley.

Marie was a cherished member of GAWG (Galway Association of Women Graduates)for many years, contributing generously and consistently at every level of the Galway association. Her dedication and involvement were deeply valued, have rippled through the decades and will be long remembered. It is only through people like Marie and her time investment that the association and indeed our national Irish federation survives.

At the national level, Marie also made a significant impact. She served the IrFUW with distinction in roles including Treasurer and Secretary, and was a strong supporter of the Public Speaking Competition. Many will recall Marie's recent hosting of the Public Speaking Final in Galway earlier this IrFUW Centenary Year, where she offered a touching tribute to her mother, Poppy Corbett, the founder of the IrFUW Public Speaking competition.

Marie will be greatly missed by all of us. May she rest in the peace.
