We are so sorry to hear about Marie. We had great nights in Clonakilty long ago. Us, Pat, Marie and the late PJ and Chrissie from The Square in Rosscarbery in County Kerry. May Marie Rest in Peace. She will be sadly missed.

My sincere sympathy to all the McCarthy family. Mrs Mc Carthy was my teacher in national school. She was a good person. She was also a very fair person.She grew up during the 1940s in West Cork there was less wealth but there was more commitment in Ireland back then, all that changed during the Celtic Tiger years. Mrs. McCarthy brought that commitment into the education system. She was very much commited to her school work and to the progress of her students. She was also a very honest and hardworking person.I believe that the generation growing up in the 1940s would be stronger than a generation growing up during the Celtic Tiger years. That generation would have a inner strength that other generations would not have.
