Working with Martin on a weekly basis for all of these years has been a privilege. Martin’s enthusiasm and determination against the toughest of odds has left an impact on so many of my staff and students. He has helped us all to realise that no matter how small the impact or the chances of success it is always worth trying.

We all admired his positive attitude, and he has truly made an impact on us all.

It was with great sadness that I heard the news. Martin was a true gentleman and a man of great character. Growing up in Rathnapish, he was someone we all looked up to, both on and off the field.

I have such fond memories of our games on "the plots" with jumpers for goalposts; he played those matches with the very same passion and heart that he later brought to the CBS football team and the Carlow rugby pitch. He was a genuinely nice guy who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Thinking of you all at this desperately sad time. May Martin’s gentle soul rest in peace.

News of Martin’s passing, when we learned of it at a match this weekend, came as a shock to everyone who knew him in Kilkenny RFC. A tough, fair player, he was a colossus on the pitch, a gentleman off the pitch, and an all around great person. He will be fondly remembered by many of our members who knew him and played against him.
