Martin was a wonderful man. He epitomised the Christian value of living your life to help others. We will miss him loads.
Sincerest condolences to Caroline, Kevin, Aisling and Cian
There are few people who will have such a positive impact on so many as Mr. Horgan had. A real gentleman, someone we all looked up to as teenagers in St Mary's in the early 90's. A better role model you couldn't find. A kind and caring man. Hearing of his passing was so sad. I want to offer my condolences to his family, I can't imagine how difficult it has been for you. Two of my favourite quotes from Mr. Horgan were "Alright OK" which was his way of getting us to pipe down at the start of the class. The second was "get the lead out". This was shouted at you when you weren't giving your full effort when running in training. As another great teacher from that generation in St Mary's An tUasal Séamas Ó Máirtín said in his condolence "Ní dhéanfar dearmad ar an méid atá bainte amach agat". Never forgotten. Rest in peace Sir.
I only heard today of Mr Horgans passing.
At 50 years of age i can recall people from my past with affection and Mr Horgan was one of those people.A true Gentleman and a fantastic teacher who ensured that i excelled at Maths.
I am so sorry for his family as i am sure he will be missed terribly.
Thank you Mr Horgan.
Deepest sympathies to all Martins family. I only heard during the week when his passing was being mentioned in the staffroom where I teach. I did the H-Dip in St. Marys in 2002/3, and have fond memories of Martin. He was very good to me in school, and as lecturer in NUIG in the evenings. He was a brilliant man to observe, and to get advice off, and the work he put in especially with students in Soccer was incredible. I've no doubt he will never be forgotten, and was a huge influence on so many people. An incredible man, may he rest in peace. Eunan Martin, Banagher, Offaly.
Sincerest Sympathies to Olly and extended family. May Martin Rest In Peace.
Sincere condolences to Ms. Finnegan, Kevin, Aisling, Cian, and all in the Horgan family.

Sincere condolences to the Horgan family. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Martins sudden passing. We met in College back in UCG and I’ll always have such great memories of Martin and how he was such great company on the various summer holidays we had together in Spain, Yugoslavia and Boston back in the mid to late 1980’s. Though we lost touch after I moved down the country his humour and gentle and friendly personality and his comradeship will always remain with me. So sad that he had to go so young. Sincere sympathies to his wife and family. May Martin rest in peace x

I was so sad and shocked to just today hear of Martins passing. I did the h dip in Mary’s with martins classes and he was such a kind and easy going mentor . I also helped him with the senior soccer team and the same year we went on to win the All Ireland Final in Dublin and he got so much joy from that journey with the players and was so proud of everybody involved. It was a pleasure to meet Marty at games since and he always remembered your name and was so happy to chat about current and past memories. He was a true gentleman and will be missed by so many past pupils and by anyone who knew him . Condolences to Caroline and his Family . May he rest in peace.
Sincere Sympathy to Caroline all the Horgan family on the passing of Martin. May he rest in peace.
My sincere sympathies to Martin’s family.

I have great memories of his Maths class in Colaiste Muire and later in UCG. He was a dedicated teacher with a genuine interest in his students.
It's hard to believe it was a week ago that we heard the terrible news of Martin's passing. All that day we hoped that it wasn't true and somehow someone had gotten it wrong.

His loss is truly devastating.
I was so proud to work alongside him on the MOFC committee for the past 7 years. He was an inspiration to us all on energy, dedication and perseverance. As with any good committees, there were plenty of debates over the years but always at the forefront of his mind was Martin's committement to the clubs best interests. His legacy is immense.

I will miss the phonecalls, the "quick reminders" the emails, the texts and the chats.

On a personal note, he traveled to Waterford recently during a very bad weather warning, to attend the funeral of my Uncle and it really meant so much to me. Reading over some of these condolences and listening to the stories over the past week, he really was so exceptionally kind and generous in his own quiet way never looking for anything in return.
To his family, sincere condolences to you on this unimaginable loss.
Rest in peace Martin.

It was with huge shock and sadness, when I only learned today, of the sad and untimely passing of Martin on Monday morning last. I had dealings with Martin many years ago when Salthill FC came out to Abbey to play St. Bernard's and we made a return trip into Galway to return the fixture. I hadn't met him for years, until last Saturday night, at a birthday celebration for his great friend of many years, Niall Rooney. We had a nice chat and catch up on soccer related matters in Abbey and Salthill all those years ago and on his involvement in soccer in St. Mary's College and in Oranmore-Maree. A real gent he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Sincere sympathies to his wife Caroline, to his sons Kevin & Cian, to his daughter Aisling, his brothers Gerard & Ollie and his sister Mary and all the extended Horgan and Finnegan families. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Sincerest sympathy to Caroline, Kevin, Aisling and Cian on the sudden and untimely passing of Martin. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Though many many people will sadly miss Martin, your loss as his beloved family, will be greatest of all. We trust though, that you will get some comfort from all the lovely tributes paid to him and the genuine, well earned esteem in which he was held, in St.Mary's, in his own community and far beyond.

We, like so many others, were so lucky to have Martin, both as a teacher and soccer coach in St.Mary's. We will always remember, the energy and enthusiasm, he brought to every thing he did. Not alone was he a fantastic teacher and coach, but his uniquely kind and positive nature had a hugely positive influence in the overall development of us, his students. He was gifted in his ability to inspire and motivate us. He had a huge part to play in making our secondary school days as happy and enjoyable as they were. And indeed it didn't end there. Anytime we think of Martin, now and going forward, he will bring a smile of joy to our face.

"If its worth doing, then let's do it right"
Rest in peace, Martin.

He was a very special man who gave me and so many others wonderful memories. From a mud-soaked field in Gort, to Terryland to the World Championships in Germany and of course our soccer pitch at the school, we had so much fun and enjoyment playing soccer in Mary’s, and that was thanks to Martin

I met Martin frequently, both at the school and down at the 4G pitch at weekends when I was attending matches with my children. He was always so friendly and in good humour. In fact we spoke fondly about him the previous Friday before his passing as we watched many children from the school enjoying the great 4G facility in the glorious sunshine. He will be remembered well into the future. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
