My condolences to Rick and family on the loss of Mary. I recall Rick you telling me of your lovely holidays together in Llafranc and other places. I am sure you all miss Mary very much, may she Rest in Peace.
My sincerest sympathies to the Bryne Family on Mary's passing. I have very fond memories of being part of a working group chaired superbly by Mary. She was brilliant to work with and an inspirational person. Nothing ever seemed impossible with Mary. She has given great leadership in special education and she will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to all the family on such a huge loss. Have fond memories of Mary during our college days together.
Many condolences on Mary's recent passing. I knew Mary over the years, both when she worked in CICE and the NCSE. She was a person of integrity, intelligence and most of all, kindness. In recent years she came to St Patrick's Campus, DCU, to speak with my final year BEd students; she held them in the palm of her hand as she explained current school policy and took questions from the class - not an easy feat as there are 400+ in the group. She always took a great personal interest in both my personal and professional life, always making time to chat and to catch up. Mary was incredibly supportive and very generous with her time for all of the years that I knew her. She will be greatly missed. Thinking of you all at this time
Sincere and heartfelt sympathies to all of Mary's family on Mary's heart-breaking and untimely passing and your devastating loss. I had known Mary when I worked in the Inspectorate and more recently in my work at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. It has been truly my privilege to know Mary, whose passion and commitment to creating an inclusive education system where all children would thrive and be supported to achieve their full potential, was inspirational and ultimately transformative. We had many conversations on grappling with a system that needed radical reform and Mary would in essence lead that very reform in her work with the NCSE. Mary's kindness, compassion, generosity, authenticity, integrity, and professionalism knew no bounds. I still remember the days when I needed to get to Heuston Station on my way to Kerry, and without a thought for the time that she would lose in driving through Dublin traffic, Mary always insisted on me getting into her car. There were so many 'acts of kindness' that were simply what Mary personified. At the heart of all the deadlines that were met along the way were laughter, fun and joy. I am currently working on a project to chart 100 years of special education in Ireland. During interviews, when asked about those who have most influenced the development of special education in Ireland, so many have unsurprisingly mentioned 'Mary Byrne'. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann. Slán abhaile Mary, slan go fóill.
Deepest condolences to Mary’s family.
My memories of Mary are from way back when we shared a house with others in Clonskeagh. She was such a special person, so thoughtful and caring. A beautiful woman inside and out.
My sincere sympathies to Mary's family. I worked with her as a member of the NCSE and also while working with the INTO. She had a great vision for the development of special education and was a real advocate for children with special needs. She was a true professional showing real compassion, commitment and humour (when badly needed!) in dealing with many challenges over the years. She leaves a great legacy.
My sincere condolences to Cormac and all the family. Thinking of you and wishing you strength.
Dear Ann & Family, our hearts go out to you all at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts. Roe, Colin, Luke & Jesse

My very deepest sympathy to Mary's family on their sad loss. I had the great privilege of working with Mary during my time on the Council of the NCSE. She was a true professional, teacher and researcher. She was deeply committed to the well-being and advancement of people with disabilities and special educational needs. Her policy advice was always deeply and widely researched. She will be sorely missed by all those in the disability community and by their families. May she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Rick, Cormac, Ciaran and family on the loss of Mary. She was a great colleague and friend for many years and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
My deepest sympathies to Rick, Cormac, Ciaran and Mary's extended family. Mary was following inclusive practices in her classroom and school when research in the area was still in its infancy. I had the pleasure of working with Mary and co-teaching with her for many years and my abiding memory of her was her relationship with students. She liked, enjoyed and respected them and they responded by not giving up and trying even harder. Many students both succeeded in school and remained in school because of her brilliance as a teacher. Thankfully she carried this belief and brilliance into training many generations of SEN teachers and influencing inclusive practices and policies through her work in the NCSE. Her love of teaching, her belief in every student and her infectious joy when a student began to make a breakthrough in some aspect of his/her learning will be my abiding memory of her. Rest in peace Mary.
