Sincerest condolences to Liam, Tommy and the wider Higgins Family following your bereavement. I and my siblings have happy memories of being looked after by Mary at pre-school age in the mid seventies. She was very good to us and although we were quite young at the time she left a memory of kindness, good manners and sociability. As was alluded at the requiem mass, I have memories of her tall, elegant figure cycling around the environs of Kilmaine.

Dear Tom, Liam, Evelyn and Mary and all of Mary’s grandchildren, wider family and friends. I am so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She was a wonderfully kind and loving lady. My siblings and I all have such loving memories of her minding us as babies / kids in Kilmaine. When she put us to bed she would always kindly say ‘close those little eyes’ and would gently swipe her hand over our eyes. And anytime Mum and Dad needed a babysitter we would ask ‘Can Mary Higgins come and mind us?’. We loved her gentle and kind presence.

I would really like to be at her funeral tomorrow, but unfortunately can’t make it back from abroad in time. However, the next time I’m home I would really like to come visit and say hello.
