She was our first teacher in Tarmon and we were all very sad when she met and fell in love with Danny Healy and moved to Cork. Sincere sympathy on the death of Mary Jo, known to me since childhood as a pupil in Cloughdubh. Though she taught boys only at the time with Master Kelleher, we girls knew her when, classes were mixed, especial for religous and other whole school activities. As she lived so near the school all the pupils knew her, and she knew us, both boys and girls throughout our lives,
She never forgot our names, and was always interested, when me met her
throughout the years.

She was a lovely lady & a treasured cousin to my mum Rita Fallon Gilhooly as all the O’Rourke family were. I have very fond memories of the O’Rourke family through the many years. Her mass was a beautiful celebration of her life, she would have been so proud of you all. It was lovely to be part of her Mass through church tv, sadly I was unable to attend her funeral.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Healy. She was a truly wonderful teacher who had a lasting impact. I can still warmly remember my first day in her class—she had such a kind and reassuring presence. She had a great way with her pupils, making each of us feel valued and encouraged.
