I fondly remember Ms Bennett from growing up in Blackrock and am very sorry to hear of her passing. I met her a number of years back in the shopping centre and we sat and had a chat - I remember her hands were freezing to the touch, but she was the epitome of "cold hands, warm heart", and we chatted about times in the choir and changes in Blackrock. Ms Bennett was one of the loveliest people of the old Blackrock I knew, and she will be missed. May she rest in peace.

Grew up opposite Bennetts shop in the Town Hall yard what a truly Delightful Family to know and the shortbreads and Mince pies never had an equal Beautiful Lady R .I.P.
What a great lady Pat was, always a smile on her face.
We moved to Blackrock in 1968 and thoroughly enjoyed her bakes - particularly the Jam Puffs. While she lived in Blackrock we loved seeing her daily on her way to 10am Mass. Had lovely chat with her when Rainbow Ceramics had an open day - she had great stories and memories of living in Blackrock since early 1920s. May she rest in peace.

Very sad news indeed.
Sincerest Sympathy to Ms Bennett's family and friends.
As children we can still remember the excitement of approaching Bennett's cake shop over 60 years ago and even though it was long closed the memory of the smell of baking always remained on passing that green door! Favourites were jam tarts!
May your gentle Soul Rest in Peace Ms Bennett. You will be remembered by many.

Ms Bennett was an absolute institution in Blackrock. Her jam triangles were legendary, if you didnt get to her shop early in the morning you would be disappointed. She was a lovely lady and I remember her so well when I worked in the florist, at weekends and school holidays, right next door . She would always put our order for jam triangles aside. Rest in peace Ms Bennett you might not have known it but you were appreciated for your wonderful shop and will always be remembered in 'The Rock'.
Oh so sad to hear this news. I stopped to talk to her a few years ago ... she was standing at her doorstep waiting for her carer to arrive. We chatted about my mother and her family who lived on Georges Avenue (Bastables)... she knew everyone and was even then at 98 I believe full of life. Am happy that the new owners of "Bennetts" have kept the integrity of the facade and made it even more beautiful. A gesture to a remarkable woman. RIP
Rest in peace
Condolences to all Pat's extended families, her many friends and all who knew and loved her. What a remarkable lady. It was over 60 years ago when I first met her. We were in the church choir at Blackrock. A shy, unassuming, brilliantly talented lady. I was privileged to spend many a night in the back kitchen of the shop as she tidied and prepared for the next day baking. Of course I sampled quite a few jam tarts, scones and delicious bread and listened to her playing piano. Rest in Peace dear Pat. You may have joked to me that after 80odd years in the Rock you were considered "blow ins" but you and your dear mother were an institution.
I grew up working in the electrical shop next door to Ms Bennett and have wonderful memories of popping into the bakery on a Saturday morning to get whatever she had coming out of the ovens. The mince pies and fruit scones were a favourite.
She was a such a lovely person and way ahead of her time with the little pedal motorcycle that she used to get around the village.
Rest In Peace.

Lovely lady her jam puffs were the best RIP
Pat was such a beautiful human being. We were members of the church choir in Blackrock for many years back in the 70’s!!! As for the scrumptious cakes, my mother would send us on Saturdays, especially, to Miss Bennett for the ‘ jam tarts’!!!
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
