So sorry to hear of the passing of Mary Sheahan, a truely remarkable lady who I got to know when she came into my shop over 35 years ago to buy one of many a lawnmower and machine and what impressed me was her no nonsense approach in her dealings and we became good friends. For many years we used to have a family trip out to Mary to buy our Christmas trees in which she took great delight. Mary's approach to life was truely inspirational and it was an honour to have known her. May she rest in peace.

As Mary’s replacement, some 20 years after her retirement, from the DAFM, I had the pleasure to listen to many farmers recount stories of her calm efficiency and her innate ability to handle cattle. She was truly a trailblazer for all female vets. May she rest in peace.

Mary loved her job as a Vet working to eradicate TB in Co. Cork. She would have an animal tested before the animal realised what was going on. No fuss or raised voices while she tested. Mary loved animals.

Lovely memories of a unique lady who lived life to the full and loved her constant companions… Klaus and Bella.
She was a trailblazer in her profession and worked in the North before settling in West Cork. Farming families were fascinated by her many stories ,told during the customary cup of tea, when the testing had concluded.
She was an accomplished horsewoman who was fearless and rode while in her 90’s and loved her weekly trips to Mr Frank O Sullivan’s Stables in Inishannon.
She had a great interest in horticulture and created a magnificent garden in her beloved Kilcoe.
Mary was a faithful friend to many and will be sadly missed.
