Mary was a beautiful person and possessed an enate quality when in conversation with her that you were indeed the most special person in the world. This quality was apparent to me throughout my many conversations with her from being a child at home in Leitrim or in Dublin road when i visited her in recent years.
Mary was a very unique person always with positive words of encouragement. She now rejoins Denny after twenty years apart.

So sad to hear of Mary’s passing and so soon after she had made the brave move away from her beloved house on Dublin Road. Sincere condolences to Kitty and to all the Whelan family who loved her dearly. I am writing here, because I can’t participate in the rituals and rites of passage I would so very much like to, for Mary.

Mary was special – and everyone who met her felt it in her happy, welcoming smile and apparent delight in seeing you. Mary was one of those people who made you feel special. She saw every situation through a positive lens and offered the kind of encouragement that stayed with you.

May you rest in peace, Mary, with your beloved Dinny, and all of your dear departed family and friends including my parents, Bridie and Bernie Duffy. Your dear friend, Michael Whelan (Roosky) who arrived in Heaven only days before you, will get the party started for the warm welcome you surely deserve.

Denny and Mary were neighbours to us on the Main Street as youngsters and kept us supplied with lollipops from the Chemist and also in latter years neighbours on the Dublin Road. Mary was always intetested to hear how llife was and could hold a conversation on any subject. She has been a life long friend to my mother (Angela) who will miss her greatly. Mary rest in peace.
