Deepest condolences to the O‘Connor families. Matt‘s kindness, generosity and wicked humour are a big part of my earliest memories of my time in Bantry in the 80‘s. A wonderful gentleman and storyteller, it was always a pleasure to spend sometime with him on return Trips. May he rest in peace.
I only heard of Matt’s very sad passing this week, my sincerest condolences to Anne, Mark, Alison, Susie and extended family. I have very fond memories of late nights and early mornings in O’Connor’s Seafood Restaurant. Matt left me with a great legacy when I was lucky enough to purchase Aughrim Girl from him and I still have her progeny successfully competing. Matt and Anne’s hospitality and generosity was second to none in Bantry. His roguish wit and quick retorts make me laugh still. We enjoyed endless days hunting together with Matt always up the front.
