Sincerest sympathy to Michael's extended family and friends on his recent death. I was sorry to learn of it some time later and, therefore, unable to express my condolences in person.
The number and range of tributes to him as a person and his contribution to football speak volumes about him.
It was always a pleasure to meet him, usually by chance in the Aviva corridors after a match there, and he always had time for a chat notwithstanding the fact that my Dad, Charley (Sligo Rovers) left us in 1997!
They both held the highest FAI Officer Position and both died on 29th December.
Fond memories!
May they rest in peace.
Please accept our sincere condolences on the sad passing of our dear friend Michael. Michael and Mary were our guests at our wedding in 1992 in Cork. They had a wonderful time and we remained great friends. A lovely kind man who never forgot his roots in soccer and was so engaged in finding out all the updates from grassroots up ...He was dignity when the FAI was in need of dignity and should never be forgotten for his work . We will remember him in our prayers and know he's at peace reunited with his beloved Mary ..Thank you Michael and again deepest condolences to all your family May he rest in eternal peace 🌹
