Michael McGinn

To my mam and dad.
My father was the greatest man I knew. My best friend and my inspiration. There are many words that encapsulate his being - gentleman, friend, loyal, hard working, family man, knowledgable, wisdom. But for me the greatest and most appropriate is legend.
His friends loved him. His family loved him. His wife and children loved him. His 10 grandchildren loved their granddad. His Trafford friends loved him. My friends loved him. Everybody who met him loved him.
It is the greatest privilege for me to call Michael dad. The greatest father a child could ever hope to have. A true gift to life.
Rest in Peace dad and take care of us all from above.

It was with great sadness we learned of the passing of Michael. He was a great friend, team mate and social companion. He will be sorely missed by all his Trafford United family of which there are many. He was a very inspirational man to me in my younger days, always someone I looked up to. Declan, I had the pleasure of enjoying a drink with your father a couple of times during our college days. The many heartfelt messages posted here all reflect what was clear to see after only a short time in his company - your dad was a sincere, friendly, empathetic and generous man, (all qualities you were fortunate enough to inherit from him and share with the same spirit).

He lived a good life, worked hard and set ye all on your way, and he was lucky enough to see a gaggle of grandchildren come into this world before he left it.

My sincere condolences to you and all of your family. No doubt remembering him as he really was will be a great comfort to you all in the months and years to come.
