We have very fond memories of Mick when he lived in Gillabby st.

RIP Mick. Very fond memories of Cork Con in the late 90s, and more recently (late 00s and 10s) when getting the bus where Mick would insist on me getting on for free as his companion. A lovely, lovely man.

My sincere condolences to all of the Smithers family on the very sad passing of Michael. We struck up a friendship on our morning commute on the bus. He was so proud of his family & grandchildren. He was very funny, he would get on the bus & shout, who’s sitting in my seat & wave his stick, I’m sure people were petrified but I used sit on the seat to keep it for him to make life easy, my response used be “morning Micheal, I’m only warming it for you” We used have great chats, I’m so sad he’s gone but he’s left lovely memories behind. God rest him now.

Cork Stroke Support members were saddened to hear of the passing of Michael, a larger than life character whose honesty, wit and good humour engaged all who met him. He proactively faced challenges post stroke with determination to improve his own situation and services for others. He always spoke fondly of his family and our thoughts are with you as you grieve his loss. Rest in Peace Michael.

We were really sad to hearing of your passing. You were always a joy to be around and we will miss seeing you anytime we were home. Edward (or Eddie as you called him) will always remember the faith you had in him and treasures the fishing rod you gave him. He will be casting in the future thinking of you.
