Mick you were a gentleman and a great train driver .Loved working trains with you back in the day and an iconic railway character. I remember the time back around September 1999 and i was checking on the Arrow and you told me Inchicore and Limerick junction were haunted and the night Clarke Gable died your wife was working in an office and she saw the ghost of Clarke Gable walking through the wall , well i was in stitches with laughter, I reckon the Bull McCabe behind it, "Wind up the Nolan fella", I was walking up St.Stephens hill laughing all the way to get my bus .Railway Characters like you Mick were comedy gold.Deepest condolences to Micks family .Rest in peace Cigarette Mick.

My deepest condolences to Mick’s family and this sad time. , Mick was the very first driver I trained under back in November 1983, in training on Heuston Station shunting pilot engines. From that very first day I found Mick to very chatty comical & extremely knowledgeable on the workings of train driving, & over the later years we became very good friends . He was always a smiling happy man, that once told me he loved the railway & would drive trains for nothing. Sleep well Mick, you throughly deserve the rest and a first class journey from this life x
