We in Ballybunion Golf Club all loved Michael P and whenever you met him at whatever time you could be certain that he would be in good humour. We would always be in the better of meeting him. Michael P never complained about his pain or illnesses even though he’d let you know that he was away in hospital by way of explanation for his absence from the golf club. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this really sad time. Níl sé imithe uainn ach imithe romhainn. May Michael P Rest in Peace where he will join his beloved Geraldine.

I was saddened to hear of Michaels passing. My condolences to Colette, Declan, Michael and the extended Murphy family. I first met Michael in the early 70s when I started my career in Auctioneering and Valuing. It was then we discovered we were both past pupils of Mungret College. I always enjoyed meeting Michael and I always felt better after a chat with him. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky to have known him. May Michael rest in peace.

For me and many customers with no interest in, or regard for golf, I must say that, for us, Michael's primary expertise and professional excellence was in his great and generous business sense and in his friendly and welcoming help and advice to his customers- no matter if they were failed hurlers or hopeless golfers, or self- styled 'expert golfers.' When all fruit failed elsewhere, I would head for Michael's store where he never failed to supply the required goods at an affordable cost, regardless of the golf or other status. Rest in Peace with your loved ones who have gone before you to their eternal rewards, Michael, you have run the good race with honesty and integrity - on and off the golf-course.

My deepest and sincere sympathy to all the Murphy Family on the very sad news of Michael's passing. I first met Michael over 20 years ago walking the fairways of Lahinch during the South of Ireland Championship, we kept in touch regularly over the years, I was only speaking to Michael in September, he was in great form.
Michael represented everything in the volunteer roll of amateur golf especially in his native Munster region, and also in his time spent at National level where he had a keen interest in Junior Golf .I will miss his phone calls and catch ups,great company, and even a greater Gentleman.

OMG, so sad to learn of Mike's death. I know him since my teens asl when he operated his drapers shop in Maiden Street. I've met him regularly through the years and Mike was always a joy to meet with lots of fun and good humor. Sadly I missed his funeral, but I wish to convey our sincere sympathies to all the Murphy family. Mike will be sadly missed by all that knew him. May he Rest in Peace in his new Heavenly Home.
