My deepest condolences to the Shields family on tthe passing of Mr Shields.
I was a pupil of Mr Shields in Ballincollig Comunity School in the late 70s and found hin to be a good kind and compassionate person. May ge rest in peace

I was very sorry to hear of Mick's passing. I have such fond memories of him and will always remember his and Mary's kindness to me, Zoe and Olan. He was always so warm and welcoming, full of fun and a great character.

On behalf of the Board of Management and whole school community I wish to offer our deepest condolences to Michael’s family at this sad time, particularly to his wife, Mary, a great friend to the school and former member of our Board of Management. Our deepest sympathies to all of Michael’s family and friends, including Keri and Hugh, his grandchildren and current students of CCS. Michael was appointed as Principal of Carrigaline Community School in 1981, before our school building was even open and led the growth of the school through to 1999. His legacy of creating a happy, caring and inclusive school which prioritizes personal and academic excellence and encourages a strong sense of social responsibility based on mutual respect lives on in testament to the vision Michael had for the school all those years ago.
We have so many fond memories of Michael - his warmth, kindness and professionalism, along with a wicked sense of humour and a love of music are to mention but a few of his wonderful characteristics.
