My sincere condolences to Mary, Damien, Michelle, Leo, Edel and the extended Stewart family on the sad passing of Mike. He was a great colleague and a very dear friend, a true gentleman. Mike gave great service to both staff and students as a head caretaker during his time in Galway RTC/GMIT. He will be sadly missed. May his gentle soul rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to Mary and the Stewart family on the recent death of Michael. He was always in good humour when we used meet in the corridors of GMIT, often to exchange comments on the latest GAA match. He was always approachable and very obliging in relation to his work. I saw another side of Mike in our involvement in five-a side matches in the gym. Neither of us was particularly gifted at the soccer and he often had the role of marking me! He was a bit of a rogue and prepared to use a few tricks for discreetly holding me back - then the big smile afterwards... He was one of nature's gentlemen. He will be missed, may he rest in peace.
